We’re looking for a smart, creative software developer who wants to make the world a better place. The Product Development team supports the IRC’s life-saving work through the development, customization and support of internal software applications, which are used by a highly distributed staff across many technically challenging parts of the world.
This is a 2 to 3-month, full-time position.
Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the Director of Product Development, Project Manager, business stakeholders and other IT staff on a web-based data management and workflow application for staff and office data
• Create a lightweight web interface for data entry, with simple workflow logic, that supports integration with other departments and systems
• Follow the IRC’s established practices for software development and deployment
• Take on discrete development projects related to other internal software applications as needed
• Write technical documentation
Requirements:
• At least 2-3 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft .NET programming and servers, including Visual Studio .NET , C#, ASP.NET, IIS and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005
• Proactive contributor, innovative thinker and problem solver
• Strong writing skills, including technical documentation, status reports, etc.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to successfully interact with technical and non-technical staff on all levels in a multicultural environment
• Effective time management and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment (without losing a sense of humor)
• Ability to ramp up in new skills with ease
Pluses:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and at least 4-6 years of experience with object-oriented design and software development methodologies
• Familiarity with agile software development
• Demonstrated understanding of how IT solutions impact business objectives and ability to determine the right technical solution for the problem at hand
